Keswick Mountain Festival
Bluestone Events managed and executed the fourth Annual Keswick Mountain Festival for 2010. With over 10,000 visitors flocking to Keswick. The festival's 5 days of adventure was packed with loads of great activities, sporting events and not forgetting inspirational speakers at the Theatre by the Lake.
There were a number of competitive elements to the festival this year, 500 triathletes battled it out in the hot sunshine and the new Sportive attracted over 270 participants including a man on a 1947 Raleigh bicycle competing in traditional canvas cycling clothes alongside modern road bikers with the latest gear. There were over 250 swimmers participating in the Wild Swim and 80 mountain bikers riding in the Trailquest. Well done to all the competitors who entered these events.
The festival offered a number of evening events at the Theatre at the Lake. The speakers ranged from Sir Ranulph Fiennes, world class explorer and local climber Leo Houlding, to climbing adventurer Andy Kirkpatrick and many more. The attendance at the evening events was up by over 140% on last year, proving how popular the speakers were.
We have received excellent feedback and by working closely with the activity providers, sponsors and speakers we were able to take the festival to new heights. We are already getting plans together for next year and are looking at introducing more competitions and broadening the range of activities on offer. So watch this space!
